Once Upon a Time……There Was a Society Named Kindred……

Our story

Hi....My Name is Amy....

And while I could offer you a tidy list of titles, pseudo-accomplishments, or the many hats I wear, it feels more fitting to simply say this: I’m a fellow human being trying to live authetically, rooted in truth, awake, and connected in a world that often pulls me in the opposite direction......

I’ve always had a soft spot for the written word, especially if carried by the Pony Express. There is something rich about thinking before you write. Sharing your thoughts with someone is vulnerable. There is something risky and bold about one small act of reaching toward another human and ‘putting yourself out there' with no immediate feedback…..just hope.

And who doesn’t get excited about a personal letter in your mailbox? (grin)

When my Hubs and I were newly-weds, we launched a stationary line that contained personalized letter kits with everything in one place needed to write a letter to someone……attempting to take out all the friction and make it ‘easier’. However, when motherhood began, my energy and focus shifted to these precious ‘image bearers‘.....and life rolled on....

My Hubs and I now find ourselves in a different season with growing, capable kiddos and have been exploring ways to make an impact beyond our four walls. Paired with this new availaility, we began to witness what I see as a ‘digital exhaustion’ in our world.

In the most connected time in recorded history, more folks live isolated from God, themselves, their neighbors, and humanity in general. We scroll more, message more, consume more—and yet feel less rooted in ourselves, in our relationships, and in the world around us. We have immediate access to ANY digital resource we seek, but struggle to register impact or meaning at the end of our week.....

It’s no wonder we are seeing trends show the desire for ‘anti-algorithm’ living with the younger generation quietly quitting social media platforms in large quantities while a simultaneous rise in the desire for the analog life and offline hobbies.

Cue the dream…..

We began to see that we might have a solution for the growing digital pandemic. What if a snail mail society could speak into this analog desire for a life that emphasizes real world connections, and context for your place in it. Something tactile that you could actually hold in your hand. Something inspirational and encouraging. Something longstanding to remind you of simpler days. Additionally, what if the letter included thoughtfully curated collection of items that served as simple invitations to help you slow down, reflect, and connect—with yourself, with others, and with the life right in front of you. And they were different each month?

This is not simply about receiving mail. It is also about passing connection onward.

Tucked inside each month’s letter you’ll ALSO find a pre-stamped unique letterpress card I made for you on Sigrid (our century old Sigwalt Printing Press with a story I will save for later)……ready for you to pen a note to someone else. No overthinking required. No perfect words necessary. Just one small act of reaching toward another human being.

And perhaps that is where real change begins.

Not through louder platforms or faster technology—but through ordinary people willing to reach toward one another again.

One thoughtful letter.
One quiet moment of reflection.
One reminder that we are not machines made only to produce and consume, but human beings created for beauty, meaning, relationship, and presence.

The Kindred Letter Society is our small offering toward that kind of life.

A return to tangible connection.
A return to intentional encouragement.
A return to the simple joy and dignity of being human.

So whether you come here longing for slower rhythms, deeper roots, creative inspiration, or simply the joy of finding something beautiful in your mailbox each month—we’re grateful you found your way here.

Welcome to the Society.

We are really glad you are here!
